Iced bourbon coffee? Yes, please.
Or should we call it bourbon coffee on the rocks?
No matter what you call it, the result is a delicious cup of coffee with an added layer of cool refreshment.
The rising popularity of Bourbon Infused Coffee is no surprise. It’s the perfect marriage of rich bold coffee with smooth notes of the finest bourbons. So it’s natural to want to try bourbon coffee in all its glorious forms.
So whether you’re a fan of iced coffee or cold brews, the good news is that bourbon infused coffee beans — the result of our signature infusion process — make the perfect cold, caffeinated cup of your favorite beverage.
It’s easy to make and worth it every time.
There’s no big secret to making a great cup of iced bourbon coffee. Our bourbon infused beans can be used for iced coffee in the same way that any other iced coffee is made.
The coffee is brewed in the normal way then simply needs to be chilled to enjoy cold or over ice. So you can do this a few ways.
If you’ve got time and perhaps leftover bourbon coffee from the morning pot, simply stash it in the refrigerator until you’re ready to drink it. When that time comes, add ice and enjoy!
If you can’t wait that long to enjoy your iced bourbon coffee, then you’ll need a way to cool it faster. You can simply add ice cubes to your cup and go.
To cool it faster, we recommend shaking the ice and coffee to speed up the cooling process. A standard cocktail shaker is a great tool for this. The coffee cools quickly, and then you can strain and remove the ice cubes to keep the coffee from getting watered down.
Any iced coffee can get watered down somewhat, though. So if you know you’re making iced coffee, we recommend using extra grounds — up to twice as much as normal — so the coffee will remain strong enough even once you’ve added the ice cubes to cool the coffee.
An alternative to this?
Make coffee ice cubes! Simply brew a pot of coffee and let it cool on its own. Then pour into ice trays and put them in the freezer. Before long, you’ll have a nice supply of coffee-flavored ice cubes so you’re using coffee to cool your iced bourbon coffee.
Genius.
Just like with iced coffee, bourbon infused beans are perfect for making cold brew coffee, and all the normal rules still apply.
The difference between iced coffee and cold brew coffee is that cold brew coffee is never heated. A good cold brew is steeped over a long period — up to 12 hours — until the brew is just right.
If you’re grinding your own bourbon infused beans, go for a coarse grind that will leave you with a great flavor and make it easy to strain. We recommend 1 cup of coffee grounds for every 2 cups of water.
Combine the coffee and cold water, then stir well and cover. Leave it to steep overnight. The longer it steeps, the stronger the coffee.
In the morning, strain the coffee. To be sure to catch all the grounds, you can use a fine-mesh strainer but also cheesecloth or paper filters to catch even the tiniest grounds. Then cover the coffee and store it in the fridge.
Once it’s good and cold, add ice cubes — made from water or coffee — and enjoy the glorious taste of cold brew bourbon coffee.
