Firefighting is a dangerous business.

There’s no other way to say it. Firefighters, paramedics and EMTs are the ones running in the direction of disaster. Especially as others run away from it.

As a coffee company founded by firefighters, we’ve got a unique appreciation for the sacrifice that first responders make to do the jobs they’re called to do.

When they rush out of the station doors, we want them to return safely every time. We want them to go home each night to their families and live long, healthy, productive lives, well into retirement.

It’s why so much of what we do — beyond roasting delicious coffee — is dedicated to supporting the health and well-being of firefighters and first responders everywhere.

Fire Dept. Coffee Foundation Benefits Sick and Injured First Responders

Every time you make a purchase, and every time you take a sip, you’re helping. We created the Fire Department Coffee Foundation as a 501(c)(3), so we could direct funds to sick or injured first responders, and to other organizations that share the mission and do incredible things to serve others in the first responder community.

Through our company and our foundation, we’ve made donations to support organizations like the Illinois Fire Service Institute, the Grand Rapids Fire Department’s Fire Prevention Foundation, the New Jersey Firefighter Mutual Benevolent Association, Next Rung, and a lot more.

We also contribute directly when individual firefighters are sick or injured, and their fellow firefighters reach out to us for help. Recently, we donated funds to support a volunteer firefighter in Nebraska as he recovers from significant burns received while battling a wildfire.

If we can help, we’re always ready.

Helping Fighters Stay Cool Under Pressure

When a firefighter goes into a burning structure, it’s not just the surface heat that presents a threat. A rapid rise in body temperature can be catastrophic. That’s where Fire-Dex and Milliken & Company comes in.

Bringing Awareness to Firefighter Well-being through CRACKYL – Firefighter Lifestyle & Health Magazine

We’ve been thrilled recently at the opportunity to team up with CRACKYL.

CRACKYL focuses on firefighter lifestyle and health, tackling the issues that every firefighter experiences.

“The purpose of this magazine is to help create an immune system for firefighters,” founder Kory Pearn said. “To give them the tools, strategies and strength so they don’t get sick or hurt, (mentally or physically), and continue to show up to work to do their job.”

We love the work that Kory and his team are doing, and we’re thrilled that our own Vice President Jason Patton will be featured in an upcoming magazine.

Both CRACKYL and Fire Dept. Coffee use platforms to shine a light on the realities of life as a firefighter. We each do it in our own unique ways, each complementing the other to provide information, entertainment, and valuable perspectives.
