Fueling the Fight: Our October Mission to Support Firefighters Battling Breast Cancer

At Fire Department Coffee, we’ve always been about more than roasting delicious, handcrafted coffee. 

We’re about supporting our brothers and sisters in the fire service, especially when they face their biggest battles.

For far too many firefighters and their families, breast cancer presents just such a battle. 

Throughout the year, we partner with fire departments and charitable organizations through our monthly Fire Dept. Coffee Club and Fire Dept. Shirt Club, but this October is extra special. We’re raising money and awareness to help firefighters fight to beat breast cancer in collaboration with the Fire Department Coffee Charitable Foundation.

We’re determined to raise more money than ever before. Each one of you who joins us brings us one step closer.

Why It Matters

We all know breast cancer doesn’t discriminate—it affects many people and firefighters are at an even higher risk due to the hazards of the job. This year alone, more than 297,000 Americans will be diagnosed with breast cancer, according to the American Cancer Society.

Meanwhile, research from the CDC/National Institute for Occupational Health and Safety (NIOSH) shows that firefighters have a 9% higher risk of being diagnosed with all cancers and a 14% higher risk of dying from them. So we’re stepping up and standing beside those who have been diagnosed and who now face the realities of enduring the difficult and draining treatments that come with it.

We’ve crafted a special, limited-edition roast for our Fire Dept. Coffee Club, and we’ve got a bold, pink T-shirt lined up for our Fire Dept. Shirt Club members. It’s all about raising awareness, raising funds, and making sure we’re doing our part for those on the frontlines fighting breast cancer.

We’ll make sure those funds go where they’re needed most—to help ease the burden for firefighters and their families.

For our Fire Dept. Shirt Club members, we’ve designed an exclusive pink T-shirt for October. Just like the coffee bag, it features a fire hose in the shape of a breast cancer ribbon. It’s bold, it’s meaningful, and it looks great on both men and women. Joining our club and wearing the shirt with pride is a simple way to show your support for firefighters in need. Not only are you raising awareness, but $5 from every Fire Dept. Shirt Club purchased goes directly to the Fire Dept. Coffee Foundation to support this cause.
